Ziva is here! #AtoZChallenge

Last Chapter

It was seven in the evening and still no sign of the baby. By now, she had already had been in active labor for more than ten hours.

‘Natasha, we might need to think about the possibility of a C-section’, doctor suggested in the evening.

‘No, I have a birth plan, my child would be born naturally.’, Natasha was adamant.

‘The baby could go into distress.’, Ananth tried to convince Natasha.

‘No, just 30 minutes more. We have waited for so long.’

‘Okay.’

One hour later

The silence of the room was broken by the cries of the new-born. The child was born on her own will naturally ,healthy with rosy cheeks. Natasha had waited 40 weeks to hear this sound. It was music to her ears.

‘Congratulations, your baby girl is here. She is beautiful’, doctor exclaimed giving the child in her arms.

The baby was then taken away for clean up, while Natasha was moved to her room. Ananth informed her that they would be bringing their child to the room soon.

Her thoughts were hazy and it was taking time for the feeling of motherhood to sink in. She wanted to sleep, but could not wait longer to hold her princess in her arms.

Finally the nurse brought her child and gave her to hold and asked,’ Have you decided the name of the child? We need the name for our hospital records.’

‘Her name is Ziva!’, replied Natasha without giving it any second thoughts.

Ananth lovingly looked at her daughter and affirmed, ‘Yes, Ziva is here.’

You and Me! #AtoZChallenge

Last Chapter

It has been four weeks since her last labor pain scare in office, but there was no sign of the actual labor till now. Natasha had taken break from her work but she was getting bored of all the waiting. She had packed her hospital bag and was set to go any day, anytime. But, doctors were only telling her to wait and watch.

Natasha and Ananth were having breakfast when Natasha spoke, ‘I think my water broke’.

‘Are you sure?’,asked a confused Ananth.

‘Ananth, Do I look like I would joke about something like this?’, Natasha replied with an angry look.

‘Oh yes, you are right. We need to rush to the hospital. Let me get the car keys’, Ananth realized the seriousness of the situation when he looked closely at Natasha.

‘And do not forget the bag’

‘Which bag?’

‘My packed bag for the hospital!’, Natasha replied with an agitated tone.

‘Yes, yes I will take that.’, murmured Ananth.

The car ride to the hospital was uneventful except the number of times Natasha scolded Ananth for either driving too fast or too slow. They reached hospital in record time and Natasha was wheeled into the room. Her doctor was called up and in the meantime routine checkup was performed.

‘Your water has broken but the baby is still not ready to come out yet. We need to wait for some time more.’, doctor explained to them after they had waited for two hours.

‘But, for how long? I want epidural now. I am tired and in labor pain.’

‘Natasha, its the pain talking. You did not want to take anything for the labor pain earlier. Are you sure now?’, asked her doctor.

‘Ah, stupid me. I will wait before take epidural.’

‘Nats, you don’t need…’, Ananth tried to convince her.

‘Some more time Ananth, baby will be here soon.I can wait. You and me will be real parents soon.’, and they waited.

X days to go! #AtoZChallenge

Last Chapter

Natasha had planned to work till the last day and often joked that she might need to go to the hospital from office itself. They would laugh it off. She was tired of answering questions from all the people in office about when is her D-day. She was 36 weeks pregnant and still attending office by taking regular rest and diet.

14 September,2015

Natasha had just had her lunch in cafeteria when she felt a sudden abdominal pain. She drank water and practiced her meditation exercises.

The pain came and went at regular intervals through the next 20 minutes, by then she could no longer tolerate it. Natasha informed her friends to take to her to the hospital and feared for the worst.

Thankfully, her doctor was consultant at the hospital near the office. She was taken to the hospital in the stand-by office ambulance. The blaring siren was causing her dizziness and she was feeling short of breath. She could also feel irregular contractions. The baby’s movement also seemed irregular.

By every passing second the contractions felt stronger and painful. She was wheeled into the emergency and taken straight to the labor room. The doctor examined her and Cardiotocography(CTG) was started to monitor baby’s heartbeat and her contractions.

Her ambulance was followed by a trail of cars with her friends in them. They were excited and were sure of baby’s arrival on the same day. By this time, Ananth had also arrived at the hospital and was greeted by super active friends. He was worried and looking for answers.

‘Doc, the term is not complete. Baby is not supposed to come today. Are they fine?’, asked perplexed Ananth.

‘We are monitoring Natasha and will let you know when we have an update. You can visit her in the room. But, ask your friends to stay quiet. ‘, said the doctor.

The minutes turned into an hour and Ananth was getting impatient. Meanwhile, in the labor room Natasha was equally worried.

‘I can’t feel the baby kicks.’, Natasha told her attendant.

‘The CTG shows regular movements and heartbeat. Relax and take a deep breath. Do not stress so much.’, advised the attendant.

After an hour, Ananth met Natasha and by then she was feeling better. The contractions had subsided and she could feel the baby kicks again. Her health was monitored for four hours and then declared fit to go home.

‘But why did it happen?’, asked Natasha.

‘It was a case of Braxton Hicks contraction. You were in false labor, pretty common so far in pregnancy. You were stressed and thus unable to feel the baby’s kicks. You and baby both are fine.’, explained the doctor.

Natasha had read about it but had not expected to experience it herself. She chuckled as she looked back at the day. Ananth and Natasha were tired by the time they reached home and slept early.

Natasha took the next few days off from work because she could no longer answer people’s question about how many ‘X’ days left to go!

Wishful thinking! #AtoZChallenge

Last Chapter

Natasha has never been a day dreamer, but now all she could do was dream about her life after the kid arrives. It seemed like her life had always revolved around the kid, life before pregnancy had seized to exist. She could only think about a happy future.

Will she have a boy or girl? Will the baby look like her or Ananth? What color eyes would the child have? Curly hair or straight? Dimples or not? What will the baby’s laugh sound like? And another zillion questions like these raced through her mind everyday.

She wanted everything to be perfect for her child from the clothes to the crib. Her sister called it nesting.

‘Natasha, you are nesting. You are filling up your house with things that you don’t even need. Why do you need to have same dress in two different colors for the child?’, asked her sister.

‘What if one color doesn’t look good. My child should have another option. Two colors are my backup plan’, replied Natasha innocently.

‘I give up!’ yelled her sister as she gave up.

Natasha wanted to knit sweaters and crochet hats for her child but her stitching skills were unaccounted for. She wanted to give her child one special gift where she had put in efforts. After days of contemplating she finally found a gift.

Ananth called her crazy when she told him that she wanted to build a crib. Design and build a crib, paint it and decorate it. And after many high-pitched exchanges it was settled that they would get the crib made and Natasha could paint it and decorate it.

Before that she had to take permission from her doctor to touch the paints and they had to search for paints which wont be harmful for her & the child. The next two weeks were the happy times where Natasha would plugin her headphones and keep painting her child’s crib.

It might have been her wishful thinking but that’s what a mother does cause, they want the best for their kids.
