Sun and Sand! #AtoZChallenge

Last chapter

Bentota,Sri Lanka

Ananth and Natasha went to Sri Lanka to relax and unwind for their Babymoon. They stayed in Bentota for two days on a beachfront property.

The resort was surrounded by coconut trees and vast lawns on three sides and an endless Indian Ocean on one side. It was a treat for eyes. They spent their days sunbathing on the beach or lying in the pool. The beach remained sparsely populated and had few eateries around to enjoy local delicacies.

Natasha was elated that she could take some time off before the child came. She was happy to spent some moments alone in the company of her love.  And, she loved flaunting her baby bump and capturing it in beautiful photographs.

When not on the beach, she would sit in their room balcony and watch the rising and setting sun. The rising sun was a promise of their bright future ahead.

On their last night in Bentota, Ananth took her out for a candle light dinner where fewer words were spoken. For they enjoyed their silence more and they talked about coming back with their child who would spent time making sand castles.

The vacation was blissful and all the sun & sand added more beauty to the already glowing Natasha.

Restless nights! #AtoZChallenge

Last Chapter

30 June,2015 5:00 p.m.

Ananth could reach home only by 5:00 p.m., by then it was late to reach airport in time. They had missed their flight. Natasha was furious at Ananth and unwilling to talk.

‘Why did you even go to office? You could have logged in from home and work. I don’t even get to go to a vacation now.’, Natasha spoke as she bursts into tears.

‘Nats, it’s all right. We can take a vacation even now and we will. I will make this up to you!’ Ananth was clueless as the rains had created havoc in the city. The weekend was spend in making refunds for all the bookings. His surprise may not have worked out, but his mind was racing to make other definite plans.

Natasha was upset for days and did not talk to him. Ananth was persistent in his efforts and finally convinced Natasha for a long weekend holiday.

After many restless nights, this time Ananth made sure that they went for a beach holiday.

Quiet times! #AtoZChallenge

Last Chapter

30 June,2015

Natasha and Ananth had planned to go on vacation before the baby comes. The two of them wanted to spend some time together before they became three.

Ananth had kept the destination a secret and taken up all the responsibility from planning the vacation to completing all bookings. Natasha knew that they were going out of the country because Ananth had insisted for her to take all necessary vaccinations before travelling. She was still unsure of whether it was a beach vacation or mountains. Ananth even took care of her packing.

‘Ananth, give me a hint. I should know whether I am going to look like a buffoon in swimwear or will have to carry extra weight of woolens along with the baby bump!’, Natasha gave a last attempt to know the destination. Still Ananth gave her no clue.

The day had finally arrived when they would be going on their official BabyMoon. Mumbai weather is known to be unpredictable in the monsoons and it had been raining incessantly since last night.

‘Nats, we will leave early for airport as the roads might be jammed due to rains. Be ready by 4.’, Ananth told her before leaving for office in the morning.

As the day progressed Natasha was getting worried because of the weather. But, she brushed aside the negative thoughts and focused on the upcoming trip.

‘I am leaving from office and should be home on time’, told Ananth on the phone call.

‘Okay, See you soon!’

By now, there was news of water filling up on streets. ‘It happens every year’, thought Natasha. She was surfing news channels to get the current updates about the situation in the city. The JVLR highway was blocked and so were the underpasses in Andheri.  Thoughts of Ananth not reaching home on time were creating havoc in her mind. The clock struck 3:30, when she her phone buzzed.

‘Hello, where are you? When are you reaching home?’, blurted Natasha as soon as she picked up the call. All she wanted was to spend some quiet time with Ananth and weather was playing games now.

Pregnancy brain! #AtoZChallenge

Last Chapter

‘How can I be so forgetful’, muttered Natasha to no one in particular.

Thrice in this week she had forgotten her lunch at home and had to make do from the cafeteria sandwiches. Hungry and cranky is not a good combination!

By now even her team members were teasing her about the ‘Pregnancy Brain’. Last week they had shifted their office to a different floor & on Monday Natasha was waiting for everyone at the old location. Drafting the email and forgetting to send it has become a frequent occurrence now.

‘Ah, how long will I suffer like this. I should lock myself at home and never come out’, thought Natasha.

One good thing that she can count from her Pregnancy Brain experience is brushing her teeth after every meal. Last weekend, after every meal, she involuntarily went and brushed her teeth. And, this happened four times in two days. Either she is too stressed or she is going crazy.

Even Ananth laughs at her silly mistakes now. She is tired of her carelessness but would not trade it for anything in the world. Pregnancy Brain may be a myth for many people, but for her it was a funny reminder of a new life growing.

What next after Maternity Leave? #Superbloggerchallenge2018

Source: Pixabay

Once you experience childbirth, the next few months spent in trying to adjust and adapt. By the time the feeling of motherhood sinks in, a working woman faces the dilemma of whether to resume work or not.

If you are working in India, then you are eligible for six months of paid maternity leave. For a mother even the six months time period seems less. The child is solely dependent on mother for first six months of life and suddenly overnight the mother leaves the kid to go work. Thankfully, there are few organizations who are understanding and help a returning mother.

If you are sailing through the same boat, I would advice not to stress too much. Give yourself a break, this is a new phase of your life and you will do alright. Get a makeover and be confident! Learn to prioritize your time while at work. The coffee breaks during the day might decrease but its all for greater good.

If you are one of the ambitious ones, you might secretly be waiting to join work. Don’t feel guilty about it, there is no reason not to focus on your career after having a child. You will be able to maintain a work-life balance. First few months might be difficult. But, every dark cloud has a silver lining!

Be ready to accept help and trust others. It’s perfectly fine if you let a close family member or trusted friend take care of your child during the day. It might sound harsh, but if need be, then do not hesitate to keep your child in a day care.

At every step there will be people judging you for how you raise your child. Be assured that a mother’s instinct is best for her child. If you feel something is right, then do it. Do not fret over it. And, go get it girl!
