Forgive or Forgot?

Church confession room

‘Forgive me Father for I have sinned’, said Amber sitting in the confession room of the Church.

The Priest sitting on the other side of the division did not thinking it would be any different day.

‘Child, no sin is greater then Lord’s mercy. He forgives us all.’

‘But Father, I have done something bad, like really bad. I am a horrible mother. I do not deserve to be a mother.’, spoke Amber in incoherent voice.

‘Confess your sins and you will be forgiven…’, replied the Priest.

‘I carried my child for 9 months, gave her birth, held her in my arms & fed her…’,spoke Amber in between the tears.

‘Carry on child, you will feel better…’

‘I tried to save her from that monster. The monster that her father is! He who would not care for his daughter. My heart aches every time I think about her. How would she survive in this cruel world without her mother. She would wake up crying and who would hold her.’

‘…I could not take it any longer and I ran from our home. Not home, it was madhouse! I ran with my daughter and sold her to the childless couple. For, I have a hope that she will have a better future there than with me…’and the tears turned into hysterical sobs.

Sad woman statue

The Priest sat silent and words failed him. There was no way he could console a grieving mother!

‘Forgive me Father for I have sinned, I abandoned my only child!’

The grieving mother did the best she thought. The security of her child was paramount.
