Never again! #AtoZChallenge

Last chapter

‘Never again Ananth. I had enough of it.’, yelled Natasha.

‘But honey, its for your own good. You need the classes to be prepared.’, said Ananth trying to convince Natasha to attend the prenatal classes.

‘Ananth, you are aware that I am not wired for so much patience and even our mothers gave birth without attending any classes.’, replied Natasha.

‘But…’

‘Not another word Ananth.’

‘Okay, what if I will come with you for the classes. Why should you go alone?’, replied Ananth.

It was thus decided that Ananth would accompany Natasha for the next class before she stops going altogether. The next Wednesday Ananth dutifully reported for the class where he found Natasha smirking. There were ten couples attending the class with them.

‘Hello all, today we will be talking about the birthing process.’, announced the trainer as each couple looked around nervously.

The next thirty minutes were the longest Ananth had ever spent as he tried to shut out the world around him and to stop listening to what the trainer was speaking. The detailed instructions about the pelvic floor and the birthing video were scary for him and he had decided he would never force Natasha again!

‘Who ever came up with the idea to invent these classes? Why would you force 10 pregnant women together in a single room with only one loo? And, why invite husbands to attend it? I would have been happier without knowing it all.’ spoke Ananth in a single breath.

Natasha did not reply and gave him a I-already-told-you-so look.

Ananth continued,’ And what is up with her telling every five minutes about not panicking. The situations demands panicking. I will have to learn few relaxations techniques myself to calm myself if I have to accompany you in the labor room.’

‘Do they realize that birthing plans are the most absurd things. Who would want to write that I plan to suffer in pain and have maximum contractions. No body wants it. We all plan for two minutes birth with zero degree of pain.’, spoke Natasha breaking her silence.

‘Now you understand what I was saying earlier about not wanting to attend the class. I do not want to discuss my feelings with random strangers. I am never coming back.’, said Natasha firmly.

This discussion of wanting and not wanting to attend the classes continued till the next week when they again attended the session. They both had their inhibitions and shared jokes about the classes. But, in reality they were both thankful to get the understanding and find people like them with whom they could easily connect. The never again saga was soon buried away.

We did not take classes 🙂 Though these are quite important for parents who live in nuclear families.

The classes become necessary when you dont have family members living with you. In that case classes form a closed community.

I never attended these classes and the birthing process was just fine. Epiidual was a life saver. And my husband was as scared as a cuckoo

Aha…these pre-natal classes! At times they could be real pain but the best part is hanging around with newbie parents sailing in the same boat.
Happy that Ananth and Natasha are attending it together.

They are equal partners doing everything together. 🙂
