#BlogchatterA2Z Reflection!

The month of April has been an exhilarating with Team Blogchatter. For all those unfamiliar with BlogchatterA2Z, it is a month-long blogging challenge which runs in parallel to the global AtoZ Challenge.

I had participated in this challenge for second consecutive year and it has gotten bigger and better. Last year I blogged without any theme, whereas this year I was inspired by Blogchatter to pick a theme. Thus, came into existence my first fictional story series. Thanks to the team for constant motivation through mails and chat groups!

All the reading, sharing and commenting with fellow bloggers is a morale booster. I will be revisiting so many of the new-found blogs in the coming months. Thank you Blogchatter for the wonderful community!

What I missed this year? – It was the individual daily shout-outs for the blogs, that the Blogchatter had done last year for all the participants. But then, as I mentioned earlier it was bigger than last year, so it might not be practically feasible.

Overall, for me it has been exciting month and I am looking forward to the e-book carnival. Did you participate in BlogchatterA2Z or the global AtoZChallenge? How was your experience? Do share your thoughts with us.

Quiet times! #AtoZChallenge

Last Chapter

30 June,2015

Natasha and Ananth had planned to go on vacation before the baby comes. The two of them wanted to spend some time together before they became three.

Ananth had kept the destination a secret and taken up all the responsibility from planning the vacation to completing all bookings. Natasha knew that they were going out of the country because Ananth had insisted for her to take all necessary vaccinations before travelling. She was still unsure of whether it was a beach vacation or mountains. Ananth even took care of her packing.

‘Ananth, give me a hint. I should know whether I am going to look like a buffoon in swimwear or will have to carry extra weight of woolens along with the baby bump!’, Natasha gave a last attempt to know the destination. Still Ananth gave her no clue.

The day had finally arrived when they would be going on their official BabyMoon. Mumbai weather is known to be unpredictable in the monsoons and it had been raining incessantly since last night.

‘Nats, we will leave early for airport as the roads might be jammed due to rains. Be ready by 4.’, Ananth told her before leaving for office in the morning.

As the day progressed Natasha was getting worried because of the weather. But, she brushed aside the negative thoughts and focused on the upcoming trip.

‘I am leaving from office and should be home on time’, told Ananth on the phone call.

‘Okay, See you soon!’

By now, there was news of water filling up on streets. ‘It happens every year’, thought Natasha. She was surfing news channels to get the current updates about the situation in the city. The JVLR highway was blocked and so were the underpasses in Andheri.  Thoughts of Ananth not reaching home on time were creating havoc in her mind. The clock struck 3:30, when she her phone buzzed.

‘Hello, where are you? When are you reaching home?’, blurted Natasha as soon as she picked up the call. All she wanted was to spend some quiet time with Ananth and weather was playing games now.

——-To be contd.——–

Time for rendezvous with #AtoZ2018!

Its that time of the year when bloggers around the world get ready for April #AtoZChallenge. For the month of April each day a post is written titled with alphabet of the day. Sundays are off days,i.e., a total of 26 posts are written. I had participated last year for the first time & will be continuing the tradition this April too.

AtoZChallenge is time to discover new blogs and make new friends. It’s time to reignite your passion for writing. Remember that idea you had in mind but could not complete. Time to put on your thinking caps and go with the flow. This year, I have a theme in mind which I would like to follow throughout the challenge.

You might say that writing daily for whole month sounds like a tedious job. And, it sure is! What do I gain from it?

  • I will be able to discipline my blogging schedule.
  • Finally work on theme I have in mind.
  • Discover new blogs and learn new things.
  • Make more friends in blogging world. After all friends make life better!
  • I hope to improve my Alexa ranking, DA, PA and Moz rank. Or any other technical jargon that I am currently unaware of. 🙂
  • Lastly, would love to have more readership on my blog.

Have you ever participated in #AtoZChallenge? How was your experience? And, I am taking the Challenge of April with Blogchatter, are you?

Trek to Dolphin’s Nose, Kodaikanal !

“Climb the mountain not to plant your flag, but to embrace the challenge, enjoy the air and behold the view. Climb it so you can see the world, not so the world can see you.”   –   David McCullough Jr.

As a traveller, I cannot decide whether I like mountains more or beaches. One thing for sure is that I like trekking. In Kodaikanal, trek to Dolphin’s Nose is a must do activity. It took us around 3 hours to climb till Dolphin’s nose & back, which included our time for rest too ! Forget rest, it was more of munching break 😀

Trek to Dolphin’s Nose

Tips for trekking

  • Know your health – Keep necessary medication for emergency
  • Research about the terrain
  • Check weather conditions of the area
  • Wear appropriate clothing & shoes
  • Stay hydrated
Toward’s Dolphin Nose

The trek leads to a protruding flat rock at approx 6600 ft resembling the shape of the nose of a Dolphin. We had undertaken the trek in the morning time & the weather was pleasant. The route in not much strenuous & is covered with trees. It passes through a small village with eateries along the way.

The start of the trek may disappoint you due to garbage around it. But, as you descend the path gets clear & better. Flat rocks tend to be slippery at some locations, so we had to be careful while walking.  Enroute, there is a Mountain View Point, stopped here for catching your breath. We were unable to spot any mountains due to the weather.

Even if at some point you feel tired, the people around keep you motivated enough to walk further. I had gone for the trek over on a long weekend, there were different group of students & professionals chit chatting. It’s always fun to watch people enjoy life !

The view from the Dolphin’s Nose was breathtaking. Standing atop the cliff look around to capture the mountains & town below. Further ahead is Echo Point. This also gives you astonishing view. You need to climb a small path of rock to go till the end. I did not go till the last point here. I was more of ‘I-will-stay-back-see-you-enjoy types people here’. To be honest, it looked scary to me.

By the time my friend returned from Echo point after her solo adventure, I had spotted just the perfect place to relax with noodles & coffee. We sat there for around an hour before heading back.

Back in the city, we had enjoyed our sumptuous meals for the day at Cloud Street Cafe & Ten Degrees. Both the cafes are nearby & provide great service.

Why am I Nocturnal ?

It’s 12:50 am when I have started writing this post. So, you might have some idea of what I am talking about. Few people don’t like to sleep at all. Na, I am not one of those. I love my sleep, wake me up when I am asleep & unleash the monster 😀

We, by we I mean ‘Secret Society of nocturnal’,have signed a bond to stay awake at odd hours. We stay up to create our own secret world & enjoy the silence of night. The noise of the day breaks the calm. Silence keeps us sane to work on all that we want.

Family & friends alike, ask me why I stay awake at night. To be honest, I don’t have an answer for this. Mind you, it’s not an easy job that I have undertaken. It has required constant efforts of last 10 years. Dedication & Perseverance ! Try it for yourself.
