Story of Terminal 1! #WriteBravely

Source :https://goodstock.photos/wp-content/uploads/empty-airport-terminal-hall.jpg

“All international departures are from Terminal 1”, reminded my roommate for the hundredth time.

“I know, I will reach on time. Don’t worry”, I replied.

“Suhani, you need to stop being a mother hen for all your friends. Go out, shop & party! Make a profile on Tinder at least now”. These were my parting words to my roommate & best friend. Even as I joked she could sense my unsaid emotions. Afterall, she had stayed with me through thick & thin.

The journey to airport was uneventful. After completing all boarding formalities, I sat at the coffee shop with a book in my hand. There were so many thoughts racing through my mind. I am returning home after six years and forever this time.

Looks like yesterday when I had first landed on this terminal. You had bumped into me at the immigration counter, throwing my belongings all across the airport floor. You had just smiled. Again, at the taxi bay you had hopped into the cab that I was supposed to take. “Sorry, an emergency need to take the cab asap.”, your first words to me. I should have known you were trouble!

First day at college & I caught your glimpse around the campus. My suspicion was confirmed when you became my student counsellor. Funny, how our fates were entwined. After the awkward first few days, we were quite comfortable with each other. Asking for your help around college to finding hotels when I was missing Indian food! You were my go-to person for all queries.

We had chatted all through my semester break spent at home. I remember the surprise proposal you had planned outside these terminal gates when I had returned from my vacation. “I love you munchkin”, you were always a man of few words. Of Course, I had fallen for you too.

I remember all the flights we have taken together from this terminal. All the vacations or the trips back home have been with you. Remember the time when we had a huge fight and I had flown to my aunt’s home for the holiday season.

Before long, our parents were asking about our marriage plans. I was so nervous for the journey home to talk to my parents about us & you had been my rock. It was here when you had met my family for the first time. My dad was watching your every move & you had bravely faced him. This terminal has witnessed my laughter & my tears both.

Finally, months of negotiations with our families & they had accepted our relationship. We had travelled like cupid-struck-teenagers for our engagement. People at airport were staring at us, but we simply did not care.

I hated it when you got a job back home and had to leave this country before me. We were going to leave together. I don’t like travelling alone! My thoughts were broken by the flight announcement.

“This is the final call for all passengers travelling on flight A14”. Today, I am taking the final flight from this terminal to be home to get married to the love of my life. I am looking forward to our new journey together, our new jobs and plans to settle in our own country.

As I look back one last time, I know this terminal will always have a special place in my heart. 🙂

Love notes from a lost diary… #AtoZChallenge

Dear Diary,

I think I have found love. Cupid has struck me for the first time & I am ecstatic. My heart flutters at your mere sight. I am at loss of words whenever I am around you.  Remember the first day I saw you in class and had stumbled. Your charm had impressed me then and there.

I am hypnotized whenever you pass by me smiling! The way you take my side & care for me…Depth of your eyes & the intoxicating voice…There are butterflies in my stomach and I am too shy to acknowledge it. I am waiting for Valentine’s Day when I would propose you or even you can do that 😉

Yesterday in the music room when we were singing duet my heart was racing. How could you not hear my heartbeats? Maybe you are just trying to be subtle about it. Today everyone in the class was teasing us. Is it just me? Don’t you feel the same? I hope you do.

We already have great chemistry and things would only get rolling. I am hoping after the school ends in two years we would go to the same college. And can stay together there too 🙂

Good Night Diary! Time for dreams…

I am sure you would have also felt same on your first crush. When as a kid you get this happy feeling and the world resolves around just one person.  How did you meet your first crush? Was it a friend or an actor? Do share your stories would love to hear them!

Bride-to-be ! #AtoZChallenge

It’s time to party! Let’s break into dance & continue all night. After all you have found love of your life. It’s your engagement and no one can be happier than me. Just few days more to go! You don’t have an idea of how much I am missing being with you right now. Just to tease you. When I got engaged you had pestered me so much. Oh dear, just wait till I meet you next. Then it will be revenge time 🙂

Time is flying away & you are overwhelmed with emotions. Brother irritating you more than usual & parents pampering you. I know you want to capture every moment. The new relations might sound confusing now, but they will add joy to your life. Cherish these moments coz they last for a lifetime.

Bride to be

Let’s talk about your Mr. Perfect – welcome to the family. He is charming and understands you. You are the storm brewing & he is the calm sea. He will add direction to your chaos. You both are alike yet so different.Alas, he is unaware of what he has gotten into. My wish for him is that he gets all strength to endure you! Mr. Perfect, take good care of my friend.

I have said enough already, now get married soon. Have a joyful life ahead! Love you both 🙂

Short visit to Taj Mahal

agra1.png

The eternal symbol of love – Taj Mahal, white beauty across the bank of Yamuna is a treat for eyes. Majestic, resplendent, awe-inspiring and the list or words to describe it are endless. I got a chance to visit Taj Mahal in last September.

Let’s revisit the history of Taj Mahal. It was built by Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal , completed in 1648 AD. Build by thousands of craftsmen, inspired by Indian, Islamic & Persian Architecture.  All this makes it one of the wonders of the world & also a UNESCO world heritage site.

There are three types of entry tickets depending upon your nationality –

  • Indian citizens
  • Citizens of SAARC and BIMSTEC Countries
  • Foreign national

I am not sure why but the person at ticket window was very suspicious of me being an Indian & was satisfied only after checking my photo id twice.

I had visited it early in the day to avoid too much crowd & the blazing heat. They give you shoe covers to wear at all times. No words can do the justice to sight you see. The Taj Mahal changes colors as the day goes by. From red glow in early morning to the glistening white in the sun shines.  The best of all is how Taj Mahal looks on a full moon night. You need to books your tickets beforehand for it. One should notice the delicate designs on the monument. Each flower is carved out minutely, the holy verses are inscribed. The Grand Gate through which you enter or the red sandstones mosques on the either side. All of these combined leaves you wondering about the excellence used in designing the Taj Mahal.

I was there for around two hours. We walked around the beautiful gardens, clicked some compulsory pose pictures.Visited the central dome where the tomb is placed. The photography is forbidden inside. Spent quiet time looking at the river Yamuna flowing in background. It was a short visit to Agra & time for us to be home bound.home bound.

For the next trip I already have plans to visit Fatehpur Sikri & Agra Fort. Have you visited Taj Mahal yet ? How was your experience ? Do share your story !

The Chosen Ones

You were there when I was trekking at high mountains,
You were there when I was camping in the desert,
You were there when I was enjoying on the beach,
You were there when floods & earthquakes strike,
You were there guarding the Land, Sea & Air.

You are the sons & daughters, brothers & sisters,
You are the ones who leave their families to save ours,
You are the best amidst bests of men & women,
You miss the Diwali, Eid or Christmas celebrations at home,
But your happiness to serve the nation surpasses it all.

Salute to all the soldiers guarding our borders,
You are the true heroes – The Chosen Ones!
