Top reasons to participate Blogging Challenges! #Superbloggerchallenge

Last few weeks have been highly energetic for many people in the blogging world. There have been various blogging challenges running currently. Whenever you see a blogging challenge multiple question arise- whether or not to participate, what is in it for you, who are the organizers. Presently, I am participating in two challenges – #AtoZChallenge and Superbloggerchallenge. Both these challenges have helped me personally in one way or another.

Build a WRITING Schedule

With a writing challenge you need to follow a timeline and this helps instill discipline in your writing schedule. We all do better when we have a deadline in sight. Personally, the more I write the more I get better, otherwise there would be days when I don’t write a single word.

Improve your writing skills

It’s rightly said that practice makes you perfect. Again, the more you write, better you get. Your writing improves drastically as everyday new words are added to your vocabulary. And, you get more ideas, so writers block stays at bay!

DIRECT MORE Traffic to your blog

When you join a challenge, you also form a community of fellow bloggers who will help you grow. Reading, sharing and commenting- this all directs more traffic to you blog. Thus, happy statistics and a happy you. 🙂

stay focused and motivated

Your blogging community helps you stay motivated to write. There may be times when you lose will to write, but words from fellow bloggers keep you going. We all love people floating in the same boat.

So, what are you waiting for, go join a challenge and find your community. Happy Blogging! 🙂

Hacking – A Blogger’s nightmare! #Superbloggerchallenge2018

Each one of us has their own version of nightmare. A person, thing or a situation which you fear the most. A blogger’s worst fears come alive when they are denied access to their blog. Getting a mailer that your website content is hacked or has malicious content is a terrible thing. And, I have faced this issue recently.

Last weekend, I woke up to mailers that some of my web pages have been hacked by a third-party. To be honest, this was a first timer for me and I cannot express my anger in simpler words. Why would anyone want to do that? It’s not that my blog holds million dollars code which you would want to hack. It’s a simple blog where I share my thoughts of here and there.

Coming back to the point, few web pages are hacked – the solution should be simple enough. I will find the spam pages & delete them. Alas, things don’t run so easily. My password stopped working and login was disabled. Thus, I was out of the loop completely. It took lots of effort & support from the hosting provider to get back the access.

The story does not end here. Even after getting the access, it is a mess. I had to search and delete malicious content. The theme is amiss, background images are missing and the widgets are corrupted. As soon as I edit one widget, the other stops working. Thankfully, the blog posts were not deleted!

Recovering & setting up the blog is a time-consuming task and requires baby steps. On the bright side, I was thinking of renovating the blog since long. Now, I have the chance & time to get it done. I also learnt some major security lessons from this. Every dark cloud has silver lining. 🙂

I will get carried away and fill pages on this and few questions will still haunt me. Why does a hacker hack? What pleasures do you get from it? You need to find yourself a new hobby.

Have you ever faced this issue? How did you cope with it and what steps did you take to make your blog more secure? Do share your thoughts with us!

Random writers !

Randomness of events lead me to write this very random blog post. And the random question for the today is – “When & why did I start blogging ?”

The ideal category of people aim for something & start working towards it. But, the abnormal souls like me juggle through too many things & then stick to one of the many choices.

Year 2010, just graduated & was awaiting my job joining. Addicted to reading over internet brought me to the world of blogging. The decision to start writing blog myself was a random choice. I was habitual of filling pages with anecdotes, poems, feelings & what not. So, why not start writing online ? You can read my first post here.

First few thoughts were – it looks easy, so many people write, even I can do it. And, I could not have been more wrong. It’s not that simple a job. It’s your brainchild & you need time to nurture it. Thus came a long break, even before I had taken proper steps in blogging world.

What did I do in all these dormant years ?

Job & Travel. Read loads of traveler blogs & obvious realization hit me that I too wanted to share my travel stories with the world. So here I am, looking forward to connecting with others & making amateur efforts to inject bug of travelling in people. 🙂

This was my story & would love to hear your reasons for blogging.

Real goals for the year 2016

New Year resolutions – the much hyped term used year after year by us humans to define our goals. Each year I make ‘new year resolutions’ & fail to follow them after a month. I remember at times I had lost my goals in just one week of the New Year. So, this time I have two set of goals – the usual ones & the real ones.

The usual ones are almost same for everyone:

  • To adopt healthy lifestyle
  • To start exercising (the most common goal I guess)
  • To improve oneself professionally

I have had these same goals for years unknown. That’s why I needed something more practical this time. The goals which are closer to my heart, the ones which I know I will follow without making much fuss about them. So, the “Real Goals of 2016” for me are :

  • To learn the local language – I have been in this city for almost a year and yet to learn the language. Surviving in different cities is easier provided you know how to converse with native people. And, if by any change you are bitten by travel bug, then knowing the local language is a blessing.
  • To start running – I have participated in two marathons & had great experience both times. It’s about time I take running seriously.
  • To study more – Okay, so I won’t lie. I am bit unsure at the moment what I want to study now. But I will think of something soon.
  • To travel more – Well, who does not like travelling?

And finally, the most important & dearest goal is

  • To blog regularly – Will begin with goal for one blog a week & gradually try to spend more time writing. Can’t say about others, but I have seen my thoughts vanish for a long stretch of time.

Hmm, I have made short goals so they should not be that difficult to follow. Can someone tell me how do you just stick your goals throughout the year?

Do comment and let me know if you also have similar goals or face the same dilemma as me of forgetting the goals.

Another beginning….

The bug of writing had been pestering me since long time. Long time since I took a pen to jot down my random clouds of thoughts.

Here I am beginning again and hopefully will be able to continue blogging.

Happy Blogging 🙂
