8th February, 7:30 p.m.
The house was filled with eerie silence. None of them had spoken a complete sentence since returning from office. All the conversations were done in monosyllables.
The wait was unnerving for Natasha. She was holding her breath and waiting for the right moment to speak. How is Ananth so poised? Doesn’t he know we need to talk?
‘Ananth…’
‘Natasha…’, both of them spoke at the same time with a nervous laugh.
‘Natasha, I have to say something about today morning. The negative test result has led me to think about our future. I have never spoken it out loud before, but I am ready to be a dad. Obviously, it will be our mutual decision about when we want to start a family.’ , Ananth was speaking without realizing that Natasha had not spoken a single word in long time.
Ananth continued, ‘Nats, are you listening? Please don’t be shocked. I had this sudden realization but it does not mean that we both agree to it. What are you thinking? \’
Natasha was dumbfounded at what she was hearing, as if Ananth had read her mind. These are the exact same words that she was about to speak.
‘Do you know that the pregnancy test had shown a faint line in morning?,asked Natasha.
‘Yes, I remember that Nats. I know it was a negative result.’, Ananth replied.
‘That’s what I am trying to tell you, a faint line means the result is inconclusive. It can be either be negative or positive. Best way forward is to test it again after few days.’
‘Okay, so? You have not yet replied to my question Natasha!’, exclaimed a tensed Ananth.
‘Ananth, I gave you the answer.Β Best way forward is to test it again after few days. So…’, Natasha pauses before saying anything more.
Ananth rushes towards Natasha, picks her in his arms & does a little victory dance. ‘I love you Natasha! Why do you never say anything directly? You know I am still unable to decode your unspoken words. I will just go and get another pregnancy test kit from chemist. Thanks honey. I love you!’
Natasha smiles shyly and stops him,’ No, we will wait for a day or two & then retest it. But, we should not have such high hopes right now. And, I love you too my dumb darling husband’.
Natasha still could not believe how the day turned out to be. It began with confusion but ended with cuddle & kisses! π

(7th April 2018 - 00:23)It is easy when both partner’s views match. It becomes very complicated if one wants a kid and other is not prepared yet.

(4th April 2018 - 19:25)Deciding to have a baby is usually a planned decision. When it’s unplanned, it brings along with it a lot of anxiety and the fear of not being prepared.
You captured their emotions very well.
All th best for the A to Z Challenge. do drop by mine.
